HEN welcomes like-minded entities and organizations who are interested in working together on hunger and/or environmental projects, and for the purpose of sharing information. Spotlight on Corporate Sponsorship
In 2013, HEN leadership submitted recommendations to the Academy outlining concerns from members and opportunities to improve their Corporate Sponsorship Program.
HOD Members Request Removal of Corporate Sponsors from HOD Meetings
In June 2012, six members of the House of Delegates (HOD) submitted a letter to the Academy Board of Directors, House Leadership Team and staff requesting the removal of all presence of corporate sponsors at the HOD meetings.
In past years, corporate sponsors have had the opportunity to provide presentations to delegates during HOD gatherings. Spearheaded by HEN Delegate Angie Tagtow, the letter outlined the close alignment of corporate partner presentations and the meeting mega issues at recent HOD meetings which may have undue influence on the decisions that are made about the profession and organization.
The letter also included suggestions for strengthening integrity and transparency within the Academy’s corporate partner program.
Becky Dorner, Speaker, House of Delegates responded to the letter by outlining scheduling adjustments that will be made at the 2012 Fall HOD meeting and the desire by the House Leadership Team to end corporate partner presentations at future HOD meetings.There will be additional discussions about the corporate partner program at future Academy Board of Directors meetings.
